Thanks for the link. I’m a sucker for author quotes and I feel that George Orwell’s rules still make good sense. I give them to students about half way through the term – when they feel confident enough to argue them out rather than just accept them as gospel
That’s such a good idea to give the quotations to students half way through term. You’re right, too early in the semester, and they are too shy to say anything. I’ll have to experiment with that timing.
